About the Amazon Rainforest/ Location in the World


The Amazon Rainforest can be known as Amazonia or Amazon Jungle. It is a forest that covers most of the Amazon Basin of South America. The rainforest covers most of the Amazon Basin as the Basin is 1.7 billion acres while the rainforest is 1.4 billion acres. This forest is so big that 9 countries has territory in it.

It includes:

- Brazil

- Peru

- Columbia

- Venezuela

- Ecuador

- Bolivia

- Suriname

- French Guiana

Brazil takes up most of the Amazon Rainforest. It takes up 60% of it while Peru takes up 13%, leaving the rest of the countries with only small amounts of the land. Amazon became a member of 'New 7 Wonders of the World' in 2008.

Amazon was also ranked first place in Group E in 2009. Group E is a category for forests, national parks and nature reserves. Bravo for Amazon!!!
